Good weekend to you people in cyberspace. The staff (me) at SYMAL would like to wish all of you a happy break from work, and good college football watching. But back to the matters at hand, here's whats happening in the world of music today:
Oklahoma City's native son, The Flaming Lips, will be performing at Oklahoma City's own Cox Center on new year's eve. Once the clock strikes midnight, the band will dive into their own rendition of Pink Floyd's iconic 1973 album, Dark Side Of The Moon. There has been some rumors that there will be a few special guests, like Henry Rollins, but nothing of that nature has been confirmed.
In the only time I will encourage you to do so, head on over to RollingStone.com to check out a great article about looking back at Altamont. As some of you may know, that was the music festival after Woodstock where the Rolling Stones called on Hell's Angels to do security, which resulted in intense brutality for the audience and the lead singer of Jefferson Airplane.
As reported earlier, New Found Glory frontman Jordan Pundik's mother was rushed to the hospital and is in need of a heart transplant. Sadly, she has no health insurance. So the band has started a website fund for her. Now Epitaph Records, the band's label, have scheduled a fundraiser for her in Anaheim.
Powerpop's money bank children, Hellogoodbye, have posted a cover of The Beatles' track "Do You Want To Know A Secret?". George Harrison's guitar and the music gods gently weep at this.
It's a Sigur Ros side project. Their frontman, Jónsi, has invited you to sign up for his mailing list. If you do so, you will get a free download to a song that will appear on his solo album.
Guitar World has recently sprung the news that Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck have announced the North American tour dates of their world tour. Words can't describe how the guitar enthusiast feels.
